A Little About Karen
Karen Joyner is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and the Founder and CEO of SHAPING LLC, a professional counseling practice providing mental health services to adults ages 18 and older. She provides virtual therapy to clients throughout Maryland and Washington, DC.
As a Christian counselor, Ms. Joyner provides compassionate guidance and support for personal and spiritual growth. She approaches counseling with empathy, understanding, and respect while helping clients work toward healing and meaningful change. Together, Ms. Joyner and her clients explore life’s challenges, develop effective ways to navigate them, and work toward their goals while honoring their beliefs and values. Ms. Joyner also incorporates evidence-based therapeutic approaches to address mental health concerns.
Ms. Joyner holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She entered the mental health field in 2008 and began gaining hands-on counseling experience during her graduate training. Ms. Joyner is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Her experience has allowed her to connect with and support clients from diverse backgrounds.
Outside of counseling, Ms. Joyner enjoys karaoke and traveling to new and exciting destinations.
